Here are few habits to keep your Kitchen sparkling clean and organised. These tips are not any hidden secrets but daily cleaning habits which I follow with discipline. These habits will always save your time and always be organised and stress free.

1.Peel veggies & fruits directly in a bin or plate

While peeling or chopping Fruits or veggies, Keep a bin or plate aside and start putting waste directly into that. It will keep your counter top clean and save your time also. You can also get Over The Top Garbage Bag Holder and start collecting the waste directly in it.

2. Wash Chopping Board & Knives immediately

Wash Chopping Board & Knives immediately after use otherwise food residues will get dry in sometime and will be hard to wash them later. It also attracts bacteria to grow.

3. Always wash Mixer Jars after use

Wash the Blender immediately after usage. It takes only 30-50 seconds extra time which saves lot of extra time later. Immediate wash will prevent from food residues to get accumulated on the blade. Once the residues are dried up, Its difficult to clean and also leave stains on the blade. After use, Pour some water with few drops of soap and blend it. The Blender will be cleaned easily without any efforts. Now, Wash it with normal water and leave it for dry.

4. Spread a towel under chakla while making chapattis

While making Chappattis, Place a kitchen towel under the chakla. It helps in two ways:

  • Chakla will not move from its place while rolling chapattis
  • All the dry flour will be collected on the Kitchen towel which helps in cleaning later.

5. Place back all the food containers after use

Always place back all the food containers & dishes to designated cabinets right after usage. It prevents unecessary clutter on the countertop.

6. Wipe Important Stuffs

Always give a wipe to Oil Dispenser, Fridge Handle, Spice Containers after you are done with cooking. Many times, we touch them while cooking and they get stained up with food. Quick wipe keeps kitchen stain free and reduces deep cleaning with lots of efforts later.

7. Wash Dirty Dishes at Night itself

If you don’t want to see any unwanted insects like cockroaches & rats in your House, then always wash your utensils before going to bed at night. If you have a House Helper who comes and do the dishes in the morning, then at least soak the dishes in the water. Remove all the leftover food from the dishes before putting them into the sink.

8. Dry Scrubber and Sponge Pad

After washing utensils, forgetting to rinse the soap container and sponge pad will attract bacteria and foul smell in the Kitchen. Uncleaned Scrubber has lots of food residues. Throw the dirty soap solution, Rinse the container and scrubber and leave them for air dry. You can disinfect scrubber in plain hot water.

9. Rinse & Dry Cleaning Cloth & Sponge

Use Microfibre Cloth in the Kitchen. Rinse them properly after each use and leave them for dry. Give them a detergent and hot water wash once in a week. If kept dirty, It may attract bacterias and other unwanted pest which you surely do not want to see in your house.

10. Never place wet dishes in the cabinet

After cleaning the dishes, Never place wet dishes inside the cabinet. Water can ruin your wooden cabinet or Stainless Steel Plate Rack and invites unwanted pests. Waiting for them to air dry and rearrange in the cabinets needs discipline. Always place back the dishes at the designated place.

11. Clean Counter Top, Cooktop, Floor

Clean your Cook Top, Counter Top, tiles in the night after finishing your dinner. Cover any leftover floor with Stretchable silicon lid. These lids are both Heat and cold resistant. 12. Place Floor Mat under Sink

Place a floor mat near to the Kitchen Sink area. It helps soaking the dripped water while cleaning the dishes. Also, its a quick fix if any water spills in the floor accidentally.

13. Keep Kitchen Towel handy

14. Use Garbage bags in the Bin

15. Clean Tea Strainer immediately

One of the dirtiest thing you can see in the Kitchen is the Tea Strainer. Always throw tea leafs in the waste bin after straining your tea and wash the strainer immediately. Otherwise, These residues get dry later and block the small holes which causes the blackness in the strainer and cross contamination. Also, fill up the water in the Tea Pan before dumping it in the sink. It will be easier to clean later

16. Never Use Steel Scrubber for Non stick Pans

Never Use Teflon Utensils with Plastic or Steel Scrubber while cleaning. It can peel off the skin and can be harmful if injusted along with food items. Clean these utensils with sponge pad and use only wooden spoons while cooking in these dishes.

17. Don’t Use Mineral Water Bottles for drinking water

Do not reuse Mineral Water Bottles to store water. These are made up of low quality plastic and are meant for one time usage only. Instead, Use Copper Jugs, Glass Bottles or BPA Free Good quality plastic bottles.

18. Place Mats in Kitchen Cabinets

Place Dinning Table Mats or Plastic Mats in the cabinets and fridge. It will protect Cabinets & Fridge from any accidental spillage & stains. Its easier to remove mats and clean them rather than cleaning the whole fridge and cabinets again and again.

19. Clean Microwave Spills

One of the most ignored appliance in the Kitchen is the Microwave. Any leftover stains and spillages can cause cross contamination. Just give a wipe immediately if there are any stains in the microwave. It won’t take much of your time. Also, do a deep cleaning once or twice in a month.

20. Seal the opened Snack Packs

Do not leave snack packets open. Clip them with Clip Sealer after opening or shift them in a container to avoid wastage and accidental spillage.

21. Arrange Monthly Grocery

Whenever you get your monthly Grocery, Organise it right away. Tranfer the grains in the designated containers and keep rest of the stocks in the Pantry Cabinet. Else, The bag will make your kitchen space clutter.

22. Organize all Shopping & Grocery Bags

Whenever we go out for Grocery Shopping, we bring back home new shopping bags as most of us always forget to carry our old shopping bag along which takes so much of space in our Kitchen. The best way to keep your carry bags neatly by these simple steps:-

  • Clear all the crease from the bag.
  • Fold it from both sides and bring them in the center.
  • Start folding in a triangle from bottom till top.
  • When you reach the top, insert the handle into the pocket.
  • Now it will look so neat & does not take much space when folded neatly.

Whenever you need to go, Just carry 2-3 shopping bags and you are get to go.
