When your Fridge is not being cleaned since long, Fridge attracts the germs and smells really bad. Fridge is a place that keeps colder doesn’t means that it does not attracts bad foul smell. You don’t realize the germs because cold temperature subdues the smell. Imagine how the Fridge smells If it’s turned off for one day, that’s all the germs.
And of course, after some period of time, Fridge has so much of spillages. Those spills becomes stubborn stains and attracts germs. A messy Fridge is a Health Hazard.
Organised and clean fridge means Organised mind. With this Cleaning process, You will be just required to clean your fridge in 20 mins once in 2 months of time. Its absolutely stress free and easy way to maintain an organised and hygienic fridge.
I would like to share some tips to clean your Fridge:
Best Time To Clean
Best time to Clean Your Fridge is When it is little empty or When your Vegetables Shopping is due. That’s the time when you have lots of empty space in your Fridge.
Cleaning Supplies required while Cleaning :
- All-purpose cleaner- ¼ part dish soap + ¾ part water
- Glass cleaner- half part vinegar + half part water
- Baking soda
- Paper towel
- Microfiber cloth
- Soft toothbrush
Let’s see Step-wise How to clean your Refrigerator-
STEP 1: SWITCH OFF AND EMPTYING THE FRIDGE
Switch off the Power and disconnect the power cord. Now, Start emptying the fridge by removing all the contents from the Fridge Shelves and Door and keep them nearby. We should clean the freezer at the end so that items inside can get colder for long.
STEP 2: REMOVE FRIDGE LINERS
Now, Start removing Anti Slip Fridge Liners from the Fridge Shelves. Dust it off and wipe it.
I use Anti Slip Fridge Liners for my Fridge which helps me in easy cleaning and prevents from any spillage. If any spillage happens, Just wipe off the stains then and remove the liner, wash and put it back. They save our time, energy and helps in rapid cleaning.
STEP 3: REMOVE FRIDGE SHELVES
Now, Remove all the Fridge shelves & Door Shelves (If Dirty).
STEP 4: SPRINKLE DISH SOAP AND WATER
Use Spray Bottle filled with Dish Soap and water(1:3) to sprinkle all around except the vents. Use additional Spray for stained portion.
Use a Microfiber Cloth to gently clean & wipe. Also, Clean the door shelves with the same cloth.
STEP 5: CLEAN AREA AROUND THE VENTS
For area around the vents, Take extra liquid on cloth and gently clean it. Be careful with area around the vents. Don’t sprinkle with spray bottle. Just spray on a cloth and start wiping around the vents.
STEP 6: CLEANING THE SHELVES
If Your fridge shelves are not very dirty, Just use spray water and clean with the cloth and wipe off with a paper towel. Crisper boxes & Chiller tray can also be cleaned in the same way. If your shelves are more dirty, wash all the shelves with sponge in the sink area.
Since, my shelves were accumulated with stains, I have also cleaned with toothbrush.
STEP 7: PLACE BACK ALL THE SHELVES AND DOOR SHELVES
After cleaning and wiping all the shelves and door shelves, Start placing back them inside the refrigerator.
STEP 7: STACK THE STUFFS BACK
Start with stacking the items and condiments into the Fridge. Just wipe those condiments with a dry cloth and keep it. Remove any expired items. Don’t forget to keep a Jar of Baking Soda inside the Refrigerator which helps in removing the foul smell.
STEP 8: FREEZER CLEANING
Apply the similar method by removing all the stuffs from the Freezer. If there is any dry spillage, Use a paper towel to wipe off the spillage before using the spray. Spray the cleaner and gently wipe off the surface. For area around the vents, where dust particles are accumulated, Use a soft toothbrush or ear bud for good cleaning effect.
STEP 9: RUBBER GASKET CLEANING
This is the most ignored part and very important to clean. Spray the cleaning solution on the rubber gasket and with the help of Earbud, remove all the dust and food particles. Use soft Toothbrush for removing tough stains and wipe it off with a towel.
Now, Place back the rack and other items into the refrigerator.
STEP 10: CLEANING OUTER PORTION
Spray the cleaner and wipe off the dust. Repeat the same process of cleaning. Use of soft Microfiber cloth is highly recommended for cleaning to avoid any scratches.
STEP 11: UPPER PORTION OF FRIDGE
Do stand on a tool so that you can easily reach to the Fridge Top. Wipe the area above the Fridge.
STEP 12: POWER ON
Finally, Fridge is Ready to plugin and switch on.
Important Tip: If your Fridge has some foul smell, Sprinkle some handful baking soda on the fridge shelf and door and leave it for half an hour before Cleaning. It works wondering removing the bad smell.
